Barbara’s Kitchen

A campaign is underway to raise funds for “Barbara’s Kitchen” inside the Kees and Claire Hut. The kitchen will be named in honour of Barbara McGeough, who passed away suddenly on August 6, 2016. Barbara supported the Spearhead Huts Project for many years, alongside her husband Colin Boyd. She was passionate about the outdoors and was an avid ski tourer, hiker and cyclist. She completed the Spearhead Traverse in 2015 and was inspired by the natural beauty of the area.

Professionally, Barbara was an accomplished interior designer, specializing in hospitality spaces and  restaurants. At home and on the trails, she loved to share food with family and friends. Her kitchen was the center for neighbourhood gatherings.

We are so grateful for Barbara’s support. She did all the space planning for our first two Spearhead Soiree events and led the decorating and catering teams. Her refined design sense made both events successful and elegant.

Barbara’s husband Colin Boyd and sons Jacob and Kieran look forward to establishing this most appropriate legacy for her. Barbara’s Kitchen will be a warm and welcoming place for people to socialize, share good food and outdoor adventures.

The goal is to raise $50,000 towards all the fittings for the kitchen. Fortunately we are well on the way to achieving this.

Please help fulfill this legacy and mark your cheque for ‘Barbara’s Kitchen’ or make note of Barbar. Tax receipts are available. See  http://www.spearheadhuts.org/how-you-can-help/donate/
