Hut Cleaning Checklist

Hut Capacity: The hut will accommodate up to 38 people.

Booking Window and Booking Dates: Bookings are available on a 60-day rolling basis (unless you have early booking privileges as a member of BCMC, ACC Vancouver, or ACC Whistler, in which case you will be allowed to book as far as 90 days in advance).

Access: Ski Touring/Splitboarding access via Singing Pass Trail or via The Harmony or Symphony Chairlifts on Whistler Mountain (when operational). For Snowshoers, access is only via Singing Pass Trail.

Travel to and from the KC Hut:

ALL guests should be competent and completely self-sufficient with proper emergency equipment and knowledge to hike, ski, or snowshoe into the hut. You are solely responsible for your own safety. We do not give refunds if guests are unable to reach the hut due to unforeseen circumstances. It is rugged mountain terrain, prepare and travel accordingly. In winter, guests must be capable of backcountry navigation, breaking trail, avalanche assessment, hazard avoidance, and more.

Do not reserve the hut if you or anyone in your party is a novice, unprepared, physically unable, improperly equipped, or inexperienced. Refunds ARE NOT given for avalanche danger levels exceeding a party's comfort zone. It is the guest's responsibility to be familiar with the route, the terrain, the snow conditions, weather conditions, and the hazards involved BEFORE you decide to book and then travel to the hut.

Hut Fees: There is a booking fee of $50 + GST and PST per person per night. Members of the ACC Whistler, ACC Vancouver, and BCMC will receive a $ 10-a-night discount. This discount is not extended to members of other ACC Sections or ACC members who are not attached to a section.

How To Make a Booking: The leader of the group must make the booking and provide names and phone numbers for everyone in the group by using our online form.

Refunds and Changes: Refunds will NOT be given for cancellations made by guests less than 30 days prior to the beginning of your stay.

Cancellation 30 or more days prior: A guest may request cancellation of a reservation up to thirty (30) days prior to the first day of the reservation. Send an email to the SHS at reservations@spearheadhuts.org stating your name, dates of reservation, and the confirmation number, if possible. If the cancellation is authorized, a cancellation fee is charged of $10 or 10% of the amount, whichever is greater.  Cancellations are made at the sole discretion of the SHS Society and its Booking Agents.

Cancellation less than 30 days prior: Cancellations less than 30 days prior to the first night’s stay forfeit the non-refundable reservation fee and the non-refundable remaining balance. There is no rescheduling of reservations. There are no refunds given for hazardous conditions prior to or during the booking dates.

The Spearhead Huts Society does not refund or discount any booking(s) due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons beyond our control. The Spearhead Huts Society reserves the right to cancel any bookings at our discretion.

Avalanche Hazard Cancellation Policy: Note that the Kees & Claire Hut is located in the backcountry, in Avalanche Terrain Exposure Scale (ATES) Challenging terrain. The winter route is NOT marked, and you will be responsible for your own route-finding and navigating. Do not assume a route or tracks will show you the way to the hut, or show you the safest route of access.

  • If you are unable to make it to the hut because of a navigation error, fatigue, or group dynamics, we will not refund your payment.

  • If the avalanche conditions, as rated by the Avalanche Canada Sea to Sky bulletin on the days you are to be at the hut, are HIGH or EXTREME, in the previous afternoon’s forecast, we will refund you in full if you wish to cancel.

NOTE: Your request for cancellation must be made by 11:59 PM the night BEFORE you’re scheduled to travel.

  • (E.G. Your booking is scheduled for April 15th, submission for cancellation must be made before 11:59 PM on April 14th)

Requirements:  Visitors must:

  • Carry their booking confirmation with them to show to custodians at the hut and BC Parks rangers on the trail.

  • Check-in with custodians when they’ve arrived at the hut to be assigned their bunk.

  • Bring their own washcloths and tea towels for use in the kitchen.

  • Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces regularly throughout their stay. Cleaning supplies are provided.

  • Remove all personal items, all food, and all garbage when leaving the hut. - “Pack it in, pack it out”

*All guides must carry a physical copy of their commercial recreation park use permit (PUP).
